Hekima Institute of Peace Studies and International Relations (HIPSIR) students undertook an educational visit to the International Peace Support and Training Centre (IPSTC) on 3rd October 2019. The 15 International Relations class students led by Dr. Elisée Rutagambwa, who explained on why HIPSIR places an emphasis on organising visits to different sites by the master students to get a sense of the practical aspects of the academic knowledge they accumulate over the studies at HIPSIR.
The peace training centre emerges as a beacon, an entity which mixes the theoretical to the praxis by seeking "To manage conflict by being alive to the interests of all actors". As an institution which seeks to critically engage on all issues pertaining to peace, security and stability on the African continent it is composed of four key offices namely the Headquarters (HQ), the Peace and Conflict Support School (PCSS), the Peace and Security Research Department (PSRD) and the Peace and Conflict Studies School (PCSS). HIPSIR relations with the centre spans back to years ago as the two share in different levels. In this sense, IPSTC and HIPSIR has called for close coordination, liaison and info sharing on efforts being undertaken at all levels, from educational background to practical side.
