Message from the Director of HIPSIR

Welcome to the 2019-2020 academic year!!

A warm welcome to Hekima Institute of Peace Studies and International Relations (HIPSIR), Hekima University College, I am counting on you to make this your best year with us. We are here to support you in every step of your academic journey. For those of you returning to HIPSIR, we are glad to have you back as you continue your education journey. For the new students who are just joining our community, we encourage you to make the most of your time here. Your college experience will be what you make it, and your opportunities will only be limited by the limits you place on yourself.

HIPSIR is marking its 15th Anniversary this academic year 2019-2020.The culmination of the 15th anniversary celebration will be at the upcoming international conference on 21st to 23rd October 2020 under the theme: Women, peace and security in Africa: Celebrating 20 years of UNSCR Resolution 1325. The institution is receiving abstracts, and the deadline for submission is 1st September 2019. The authors of selected abstracts will be invited to produce a book chapter which will be published and launched at the conference. More than 1000 women will also be reached on an online survey on women, peace and security in Africa, the results of which will be presented at the conference. I would like to encourage you to present a paper at this Conference or to register as a participant.

We thank God for the strides made by HIPSIR for the past 15 years, and we are happy that out alumni are active building peace in their respective contexts. We will be happy to hear from you as you share your experiences with the rest of the world on what you are doing to bring the little change so badly needed in our world today. Hekima University College is a research-intensive and student-centered university, with a diverse and welcoming campus which fosters an institution-wide commitment to creating a strong, healthy future for our students and for our local and global communities. We have in the past had a privilege to have the international community represented in our student's population and we look forward to having more from within Kenya and different parts of the world as we accompany you throughout your education and general growth. We are currently working on additional programs and hope to launch a PhD program in the near future.

If you are a HIPSIR alumnus, please fill in the update form to let us know what you are currently doing. We will be happy to hear from you. I invite you to explore what HIPSIR has to offer you through our website and discover new aspirations and motivations to change our world. This website is user friendly and interactive. You will find a lot of information here. Please take your time to explore and send us your opinions and suggestions.

Enjoy!!
